Title: Roots of Justice

Artist’s Statement: “Food justice emphasizes access and availability of fair, healthy, locally grown produce, often marginalized communities become victims to this food injustice and insecurity. My goal for the poster was to highlight the connection between food systems and social equality. By incorporating different colored hands reaching towards the carrot I aimed to create a message that everyone has the same goal achieving food justice no matter the origins of those people.”

Título: Raíces de la justicia

Declaración: “La justicia alimentaria enfatiza el acceso y la disponibilidad de productos locales, justos y saludables, pero a menudo las comunidades marginadas se convierten en víctimas de la injusticia y la inseguridad alimentaria. Mi objetivo con el póster era destacar la conexión entre los sistemas alimentarios y la igualdad social. Al incorporar manos de diferentes colores que se extienden hacia la zanahoria, intenté crear  el mensaje de que todo el mundo tiene el mismo objetivo de lograr la justicia alimentaria, independientemente del origen de esas personas.”

Title: Seeds of Resistance

Artist’s Statement: “Food has been used as a way to keep people oppressed, which is an utterly unforgivable act. Food is a basic human right which should be denied to absolutely none, and yet in modern times there are still so many people who don't know where their next meal will come from. I believe we should all come together, as a community, and get rid of this scarcity mindset we have been led to believe in and rather share and rejoice through sharing the plentiful food we so often hoard. “

Título: Semillas de resistencia

Declaración: “La comida se ha utilizado como una forma de oprimir a las personas, lo cual es un acto totalmente imperdonable. La comida es un derecho humano básico que no se le debería negar a nadie, y sin embargo, en la actualidad todavía hay muchas personas que no saben de dónde vendrá su próxima comida. Creo que todos deberíamos unirnos, como comunidad, y deshacernos de esta mentalidad de escasez en la que nos han hecho creer, y más bien compartir y regocijarnos al compartir la abundante comida que tan a menudo acumulamos.”

His art will be displayed prominently inside the festival building.

Title: Blind Food Justice

Artist’s Statement: “Like our justice system it is said that lady justice is blind and so in the same way food justice should be blind. Everyone should have the same accessibility to healthy natural food. A healthy lifestyle should be accessible to all be passed down to younger people and should be something spread world wide, that is what justice means to me.”

Título: Justicia alimentaria ciega

Declaración: “Al igual que nuestro sistema judicial, se dice que la justicia es ciega, y del mismo modo, la justicia alimentaria también debería ser ciega. Todo el mundo debería tener el mismo acceso a alimentos naturales y saludables. Un estilo de vida saludable debería ser accesible para todos, transmitirse a las generaciones más jóvenes y difundirse por todo el mundo. Eso es lo que significa la justicia para mí.”
